Today I went to Mass after a long, long time.  It was early morning and I picked up my parents.  We drove to the church.  We had to leave momentarily because my mom thought she had left something on the stove (turned out to be a false alarm).  My mom motioned me to get up for Communion, but I told her I was not able to.  At least, from what I remember, I first need to go to confession.  I am not going to get into detail as to confession or why Catholics confess their sins.  That is not the point of my post.  I just want to share that feeling of serenity.  I sat there and I looked at the windows, at the statues, and every other detail that caught my eye.  I grew up in a family that would go to Mass every Sunday.  I grew up in a home where I would pray before going to sleep.  I missed that part of my life, that spiritual part.  I took a small step today.
